Trinity College: Underwhelming due to Restoration Project

点评：Trinity college has some nice buildings, but nothing too gorgeous. There’s a ton of colleges in the U.S. with pretty campuses. There’s some interesting stories, but much is missing. For example, our college student tour guide mentioned that Debate Societies are big there but she didn’t mention any type of topics the students debate. She mentioned some prior celebrities who went to college there or visited. She told us an interesting story in which 4 students killed another student and got expelled but then moved up into high positions in Parliament.
The Book of Kells was SUPER underwhelming. It’s just opened to 2 pages like when you open a normal book and some colors on some letters. I was expecting to at least see some beautiful drawings in the book. The museum leading up to the real book was underwhelming too.
The most beautiful area is definitely the library. It would be SO BEAUTIFUL and I would hav given this tour a higher ranking if all of the book shelves had books in it. They're going through a 5-year restoration project where the books will be off of the shelves to be preserved. It didn’t feel too special only seeing 5 rows of old books instead of the normal 100. There were some cool marble head statues and a random Earth globe.
I don’t think you even need to visit Trinity College until the Restoration Project is completed. Other things like visiting the Guinness Storehouse are much better!
