Our experience on the overnight option

点评：We did the overnight trip option without the rappel. Be aware that currently the overnight is happening in the garden rather than the cave. Apparently, there's some new regulations about camping at the cave and red tape that isn't done but might one day be. The garden is a nice place, but perhaps somewhat less "magical" than the cave would've been.
Ours was a rainy season trip, done just for the two of us with a single guide. That put us pretty much in control of our speed and schedule. We spent a while at the lower pool where we swam a bit and I jumped, then we hiked over to the cave for lunch and then to the lower waterfalls, which are gorgeous. We finished fairly early, maybe at 2PM, then had the rest of the evening/night as down-time at the garden. That worked out pretty well because it started raining shortly after we returned and didn't stop until about 9 PM. We sheltered under the big canopies at the garden next to a campfire, and the rain added to the experience. The tents are also under a canopy, which is good because those cheap little Ozark Trail tents wouldn't have stood up to a tropical downpour on their own.
We are efficient early-risers so we ended up hiking down earlier than the published schedule. Got a pretty good look at an active sloth and some toucans on the way down.
We saw where the rappel is done from the bottom, right next to the cave, mostly free hanging. It's quite scenic, and surely worth doing if you're new to rappelling. It's not done off an ugly platform, which undoubtedly means a trickier start at the top and a more authentic experience than some other tour options that include rappels.
