点评:It’s Versailles! We have a Cuban restaurant that shares the name but not the pronunciation in Miami! (It’s only 50 years old but the irony!). I had been to a few places nearby in the 1990s but never got to visit the Palace. What struck us was the development of mirrors! Venice had the technology & the French Royalty were bent on getting as many mirrors into Versailles as possible - Saint-Gobain started as royal manufacturer as the “Royal Mirror and Glass Factory” (1665) to compete with the Venice monopoly. Again, the irony! My wife and I enjoyed the opulence and grandeur of Versailles. The grounds and gardens were beautiful and we could hear the hunting season underway too. Definitely do a small or private tour! The significance and irony were front and center to us. Beautiful! Innovative! Egoist!
