点评：This review is as a direct experience of the Flying Scotsman visit to the West Somerset Railway. We use the railway every year, and this is by far the worst experience we've had. It's clear that the pressure of having such an important locomotive running on the WSR was a bit more than the organisers and staff could cope with. Effectively, the whole effort was put into running the trains from and to Bishop's Lydiard for the experience. Whilst car parking was well organised and the pre-trip marquees set out at the station were a good idea, there was a great deal of pressure on staff in particular. My wife was directed very rudely by a railway staff member who ordered her to 'Get off the platform' when asking a question about shop access. I would like to mention that my wife was dealing with our disabled son and has health difficulties of a severe nature herself. The Flying Scotsman trip was only in one direction, our outward trip to Minehead being diesel propelled. When at Minehead the whole station was locked down so that there was no public access to the Station Café or anywhere off the platforms. Photo opportunities were very poor and limited. The disabled toilet on Minehead Station was out of order all week, I checked every day, and the normal gents was filthy on the first day when I needed to use a cubicle. I didn't expect to see a lavatory brush covered in paper and faeces. Generally I would call Minehead Station a poor relation in comparison to Bishop's Lydiard, and is in need of much improvement to attract more visitors. This is a pity. I enjoy heritage railway trips, but this is definitely one that wasn't worth the money or the attendance on what should have been a very special occasion.
