House with an interesting history of William Morris and his life of design

点评：House is located off Bexleyheath broadway with many bus services and 15 minute walk from Bexleyheath station. On street parking around house. Have to book tours of house in advance on line (around 1 hour tour), but well worth it. Guides are extremely knowledgable and tell the story of the house building and design and the life of Morris and his famous friends very well. The house and gardens are not as well cared for as many other National Trust properties, and the previously visited lovely cafe and gift shops have now gone (just a small secondhand bookshop now). Openings are now only three days a week and next year (2026), this will go down to only 2 days. Such a shame for a local historic site which once had 25,000 visitors a year (real shame for the dedicated and enthusiastic guides and volunteers). Still definitely worth a visit, especially if you are interested in British design, architecture, art and poetry from the 18-19th century.
