点评:I'm writing specifically about the food market that's behind the Festival Hall and South Bank Centre. We've visited before and loved it so decided to take the trip into London to go again. It didn't disappoint. We did as before, and bought a single dish of what we liked the look of, ate it then wandered around to choose something else. The best idea of all the stalls was 'small dishes' (Indian food, absolutely fantastic) which I wish other traders would adopt as to be honest, everything looks so gorgeous we wanted to try it all!
Top of my hit parade was the Afghan stall. Never tried food from there before but we tried the lamb and it was truly amazing. With all the dishes we tried, we were careful not to eat all the carbs such as rice or wrap as that would have limited how much we could try. In the end we shared five dishes and a few lagers and had an absolutely amazing afternoon. Just one gripe - I wish South Bank would provide more seating as people would stay longer and spend more!
After we finished eating we used the excellent loos in the South Bank Centre, watched kids playing in the fountain outside, walked along the Thames promenade for a distance then crossed the bridge to Embankment station to make our weary way home. A lovely afternoon out, we can thoroughly recommend it.
