点评:First stop on our trip to Scotland and London and it really set the tone. A chilly, foggy morning set the mood, with the castle emerging from the mist as we drove up the hill. The Wallace Memorial was shrouded in fog, barely visible on the horizon, the surrounding hills and community obscured. The castle itself is over 900 years old but remarkably well preserved. Well maintained, modern, yet as close to authentic as possible. the views, already magnificent, became breathtaking as the fog burned away, revealing the cemetery, surrounding community and the Wallace Memorial a few miles away. This is a must see for anyone visiting Scotland, its cultural heritage is second to none. From Robert the Bruce to Mary Queen of Scots to Bonnie Prince Charlie, this has been a focal point of the Scottish monarchy for centuries. Everything is so well preserved, it is almost as if time has stood still. It gave me chills to stand on the same ground.
