点评:We came to sing with our community choir, and spent a few hours looking around the art and going to the cafe. I'd not been since the new floor was finished and I was blown away about how wonderfully open it was and the massive textile art being shown was especially captivating.
Being a wheelchair user I'm often disappointed because I'm faced with little or no accessibility and lack of understanding. But not here. I was able to book a parking space and was met at the step free entrance to show me the way. I was taken to the gallery in the largest lift I've ever seen - they have it to transport the awesome art work. So no ridiculously small lifts and turning circle there - it was an unexpected bonus. All along the way the staff were friendly and helpful. The new gallery had the best disabled toilet I've ever used - accessible for many disabilities, clean and roomy. The spaces around the art work on the new floor, despite lots of people being there, had plenty of room and a smooth floor. I didn't get chance to go around the older gallery so can't comment but I was able to easily access the cafe and shop. Thank you to all at Tate St Ives - it was a great experience for me as a disabled visitor in a wheelchair. I'll check out the older gallery next time ;-)
