One of the great railway museums!
STEAM - Museum of the Great Western Railway的点评
点评：So full disclosure, massive train nerd, but I don't think you need to be an enthusiast alone to enjoy it.
The storytelling aspect is brilliant - you are very much taken on a journey as you go through the different spaces which wonderfully tell the story of the old Great Western Railway and the Swindon railway works.
There's plenty of activities for people to get stuck into, including a steam train cab simulation and you can try your hand at signalling too.
In terms of the trains/locomotives, there are three really special ones here - City of Truro is thought to be the first steam engine to have ever gone 100mph (though it was never made official!), King George V is a pioneer locomotive which also toured America, and Caerphilly Castle is the first-built of probably the GWR's most famous type of engines.
Staff were brilliant. Gift shop had tons of variety as well. Short walk from the car park, just take care when crossing the road, but it's not far.
A super day out. If you like trains it's an easy sell. If you like the GWR in particular, this is a mecca! For families/general public, very interesting with lots of good displays and information.
