The best park in London!

点评：Richmond Park is quite simply huge. It's the largest park in London covering over 2,500 acres and it's home to over 600 deer that roam the grounds freely. I've lived in the Richmond area for more than a decade and I still find things that surprise me about the park. A few years ago I discovered that the Royal Ballet's students aged 11-16 are based in the beautiful Georgian White Lodge house and on my most recent visit with my sister, we came upon multiple herds of deer not once but twice, which is the first time this has ever happened to either one of us. The deer are definitely the best thing about the park, though it's worth noting that sometimes you can walk around for up to 2 hours and not see a single deer as the park is enormous. Another highlight is King Henry's Mound, which offers a protected view of St Paul's Cathedral. The lovely Isabella Plantation is home to peaceful woodland paths and streams, as well as to a gorgeous azalea collection. The park also has a lovely lake called Pen Ponds near which you can often find deer and there's a cafe in Pembroke Lodge, a stunning Georgian mansion which seems to often host weddings.
If you're visiting Richmond, I recommend you set aside at least 2-3 hours to explore the park and that you get there by taking the walk along the river, then going up Richmond Hill and enjoying the magnificent viewpoint before you enter the park. Alternatively, you could go directly up the hill and walk by the river on your way back to the station as both routes offer spectacular views of the area.
