点评:Stopped in here after a walk along the path behind the Hill House towards Rhu and back - not to the see the house itself this time, although that is always a treat and a half, but for a bite to eat at the Café to warm up. Soup of the day was a tremendously flavoursome sweet potato and lentil - very nice indeed. It came with a rather miserably sized, but warmed seeded bread roll which would have been A* if twice the size. My black Americano was just the way I like it - dark and strong and with a bit of bite. After such a great start, the carrot cake I chose for dessert was a bit of a disappointment- rather dry cake with no visible carrot or fruit in it, and a too-sweet icing. I was hungry and ate it all but I'd not choose that again. I think my friend's Mackintosh-inspired empire biscuit was probably a better choice. This place was busy, and quite noisy - so not the spot for quiet contemplation but one for families and lively discussions. Good to see the cafe doing well, although I honestly feel it's a tad overpriced. Staff very charming and helpful though and I'd go again for the coffee and the soup any day.
