A Fantastic First Visit to the Battle Proms

点评：My wife and I, along with our two long time friends—all of us senior citizens—booked a coach trip from Leicester to visit this beautiful venue for the Battle Proms. It turned out to be a truly special day out.
The only negative came right at the start. When we arrived, none of the stewards seemed to know where the coach should park. Our driver ended up circling the estate roads in a sixty seater coach while the stewards who did interact with him weren’t able to give clear directions. Eventually, he was told to pull into the drop off zone. This led to quite a carry on: someone arrived in a van to redirect us to the coach park, but the exit from the drop off area wasn’t designed for a coach turning right between two trees. We became stuck, and although the driver managed to reverse out, the coach’s paintwork was damaged. Not the ideal start.
However, this was the only issue in what became an otherwise fabulous day. It was our first time attending, and it certainly won’t be our last. The event was wonderfully organised, with something happening all the time—mounted displays, a Spitfire fly past, cannons, fireworks, period actors, the Red Devils parachute display, and of course the superb orchestra and singers. The atmosphere was brilliant throughout.
Pam Rhodes done an amazing job presenting the show and she kept the whole event flowing beautifully and added real charm to the evening.
We came well prepared with two trolleys full of everything we thought we’d need, but some visitors had gone all out decorating their picnic areas. Next year, we’ll know exactly what to do! So a tip for anyone thinking of visiting this event in future is; arrive early to secure a good spot, and bring comfortable seating, blankets, and decorations if you want to join in the fun.
