点评:As mentioned before, most photos are heavily edited and decieving. Yes the water is clear-ish but it doesn’t look clean and doesn’t look like what you would typically envisage of tropical waters.
Personally, I wouldn’t swim it it at all. You are no more than 100 metres away from several dozen (50+) huge number oil tankers and freight ships moored off the coast. It would be the equivalent of swimming in Sydney harbour; you just don’t do it, it looks gross and there’s no real marine life, ultimately it’s like swimming in city water.
The inlet of the swimming area is cordoned off with some buoys and netting and about 50 metres past that is another much larger floating barrier which surely must have some sort of netting etc to prevent larger marine life and/or litter from getting into the main beach area.
The beach itself doesn’t offer a lot unless you’re staying at the Shangri La in which case water activities and water sports equipment is free to use (paddle boards, kayaks etc).
I don’t know how/where you pay admission to the beach (as Tripadvisor shows a ticket price of $9+) or where you pay that, as we have access from hotel… But you do have to pay a vehicle toll fee to drive to and enter the island whether in taxi or Grab/Uber unless you are staying on the island.
There are a couple of restaurants scattered along the beach front but it’s nothing special.
Overall I wouldn’t go to Sentosa Island unless you’re going for Universal Studios.
