Worth visiting but a bit disappointing
New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park的点评
点评：First, parking on narrow cobblestone streets is scarce, so plan on using the multi-story parking garage (at $8 per hour).
Skip the optional ($5) video which is about sea turtles, not whaling. Good if you want to learn more about that, but not our cup of tea.
Many great artifacts, including a half-size replica of a real whaling ship, but full size people can barely move around on board, so admire from outside.
This museum started in the early 1900s and its layout and exhibits are pretty much the old "cabinet of curiosities" lacking a cohesive overall theme and most lack modern exhibit techniques.
There is an excess of "woke" diversity emphasis, above the appropriate acknowledgement of the contributions of individuals from many regions and cultures to the whaling history.
Don't miss the great waterfront panorama from the upper level observation deck.
There is a National Park Service Whaling center nearby, but it is closed Monday & Tuesday, so we do not know what they have there.
