点评：The Minack Theatre is the world-famous, open-air amphitheatre hand-carved into the rugged granite cliffs of Porthcurno, Cornwall.
It's positioned just four miles from Land's End, this stunning venue offers a dramatic backdrop where the Atlantic Ocean serves as the permanent stage scenery.
If you're going to see a production or a guided visit you need to book in advance.
Also the venue is entirely exposed to the elements. Coastal winds can bring dramatic temperature drops or sudden gales—especially during autumn—so bring warm layers and waterproofs if you are watching a production.
The structure is steep and features roughly 90 steps scaling down toward the beach. Wear sturdy footwear. There is excellent on-site staff assistance for mobility issues, navigating the cliff face requires caution.
Sitting on hand-carved stone blocks gets tough after a while. I strongly recommend bringing your own seat cushions.
There is a cafe for hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice creams and Cornish pasties.
We watched a matinee performance of The Importance of Being Earnest. It was a brilliant professional exceptional production
With the stunning backdrop of the bay, seagulls occasionally joining in the performance, and a truly brilliant cast of actors and musicians, it was an afternoon to remember.
And, thankfully, the weather stayed calm and dry! Because a rainy afternoon at an open-air theatre would have been a very different experience! 😂
