点评:We parked down the hill by the railway for £10 as we're not National Trust members and we didn't book tickets to the visitor centre, so we were turned away from the official car park.
We took the blue route to the stones, which was an easy walk downhill. It probably took about 25 minutes with a 6 year old in tow. The scenery is stunning and worth the walk to take it all in, although there is a bus that takes you down and back for £1 each way. 50p for children.
There are 2 other routes you can take as well. Think the blue is the easiest.
The stones are incredible and fascinating to see. It was really busy down there. We went at around 2pm and I've read that getting there early might help with the crowds.
I'd wear sturdy shoes if you plan to climb on the stones. I saw people in flip flops, sandals and even heels, but I wouldn't recommend that!
We wanted to go to the shop and cafe after our visit but we're refused entry as we hadn't purchased a visitor centre ticket! Does the National Trust really want to turn money away from their shop and cafe or was this a miscommunication from the lady manning the door?!? Instead, we were sent to the hotel next door which was rammed. Presumably these people all received the same treatment. It was so busy, we left. We didn't eat there or buy a souvenir. This was disappointing and is the main reason I've given this an average score. Twice we were turned away as we didn't have a visitor centre ticket. Poor form NT.
