点评:The only way this visit could have been better was if it wasn't during Storm Amy. However, I can say it was outstanding. After parking our car in the adjacent lot, we went into the visitor centre. There we decided to go on a guided tour with Mark. It turned out that my wife and I were the only ones to take the tour, and that was a bonus. it was like our own private tour. The three of us walked down the hill to see the 40,000 interlocking basalt columns of the Giant's Causeway. These columns were created by volcanic activity many millions of years ago. Mark was funny, personable and knowledgeable. He kept us informed and entertained the entire time. Mark pointed out interesting and significant features of the site that we probably would have passed by unknowingly. The columns are truly amazing to see in person. I walked out on them - it can get extremely slippery closer to the water. There are buses £1 or £2 one can take to go to and from the columns. The visitor centre offers a wealth of information pertaining to the Giant's Causeway and surrounding area. It also features a gift shop, cafe and toilets.
