点评：The views were amazing the whole way up and down. The path is described as family friendly, I certainly would not be taking up any kids that are not used to hiking. We are fairly fit couple and was surprised how steep the first entrance part was before the first gate onto mountain. If you struggle here to point of not enjoying turn back and get the train. The Cafe is your half way point and past here the terrain becomes a lot harder to navigate and less stable under foot. We started our climb at 11am on a Saturday, this is a busy time for people coming up and down. We went in trainers as dry day but if any rain you would definitely want walking boots. It took us 4 hours to get up and down the mountain and have been told this is quite a quick time on this route. It was quite a queue at the top to reach milestone for photo, if it’s foggy the better pictures are at the last bridge before top. Be aware of people who ignore the signs to keep dogs on leads as more than once on way down we found a dog pushing past our legs. Points to consider - in winter or summer take layers, weather changes a lot on the way up and down.
There is no toilets on the route , so drink the water sparingly. Take snacks if the cafe is closed you have a long way to go up and down. Take a back pack for tissues, drinks etc. A lot of the parking machines around take cash only, there is a big car park behind lake railway that is quite close, £6 for 8 hours and can pay by app.
The railway is £42 an adult return and needs to be booked online for guaranteed tickets.
