点评:I did a lot of research before doing this route up Snowden - I’ve never hiked up a mountain before, I’m fairly unfit at the moment and I vastly prefer flat walks with perhaps a gentle incline at most. But I wanted to do it and I made it up and down in 7 hours (including a 30 min break in the heaving cafe at the top). As others have said it is possible if you’re unfit but I saw many people trying it who probably should not have been mainly because they had none of the right equipment for the conditions, which on the day I went were windy, cold, foggy and raining. I didn’t see any views until I was about halfway down on the return, and my phone switched itself off because of the cold temperature at the summit. But people were going up in shorts, T-shirts and trainers, including children. I wore waterproofs, a proper fleece, proper hiking boots - was completely drenched regardless - took plenty of food and bought myself trekking poles the day before which were a marvel (hardly sore at all the day after and they really helped with balance including when the wind could’ve knocked me off my feet). The path was really very rough most of the way though and with the rain parts of the path had actually become a waterfall. I’m sure it would’ve been more enjoyable in better weather but I the joy I felt going down was incredible, the sense of accomplishment afterwards the same, and so many wonderful people gave me encouragement on the way. It was a very busy path but that was what I wanted as a solo hiker, and when you have to stop to let others pass you get a break so that wasn’t a problem for me!
