点评:Visited today for the first time in a couple of years and saw lots of changes since our last visit. The site seems much more family oriented now with lots of signage around the site aimed a attracting our small people which is great 😊 what has also changed though is the lack of wildlife ☹️ last time we visited we saw nuthatches, woodpeckers, tree creepers and marsh tits just to name a few….today my camera didn’t even make it out of its case. There were no feeding stations for the birds, appreciate there is plenty of natural food around at the minute but it wasn’t just empty feeders, it was the lack of feeders/bird tables….we didn’t see one!
There also seems to be lots of places overgrown even the Robin Hood statue in the pond near the visitors centre was almost hidden. It seems the way forward with RSPB sites at the minute to concentrate on offering family/dog friendly sites and move away from the “Give nature a home” ethos.
Cafe has also stopped selling hot food, now all pre-packed sandwiches and expensive cold drinks, luckily we were still able to get a hot drink.
A nice place for a walk and to get some fresh air, but maybe leave the binoculars and cameras at home if you are hoping to catch a glimpse of wildlife.
