点评:If you go to Edinburgh (and you really should if you’re in Scotland 🇬🇧), make time for the National Monument of Scotland on Calton Hill.
It’s that dramatic “Roman-looking” column structure you see on the skyline — often called Edinburgh’s Parthenon. It was started in 1826 as a tribute to Scottish soldiers who died in the Napoleonic Wars, and it was meant to be a full replica of the Parthenon in Athens… but they ran out of money, so it was never finished 😅
Now it stands there as an unfinished monument — which honestly just makes it more iconic.
Be prepared for a bit of a climb up Calton Hill, but it’s 100% worth it. The views over the city are absolutely stunning — you get the full skyline of Edinburgh, and it’s one of the best photo spots in the city 📸
Bonus: it’s completely FREE 👍
History, views, and a little “unfinished business” energy — definitely worth the walk.
