点评:Okay, here goes. Decided to attend the bullfighting on an evening whilst in Madrid. Arrived through the day to buy tickets, so many options regarding areas and heights of the seating, some areas in the shade, some in the sun and some a mixture of both. I'd avoid the sunny area as you are sitting on stone that will have been baked slowly throughout the day and I can just imagine your ass cooking slowly on it. The women at the ticket officer was very helpful, spoke English and made sure we sat in a decent area.
The bullring itself, right next to the metro so it's easily reached. Plenty of bars and restaurants around the venue too. The building is spectacular and is much bigger than I anticipated. It holds around 24,000 I think but there wasn't a higher crowd when I was there.
The bullfights.i didn't really research but I should've been more prepared. The bull has got absolutely zero chance of survival. It gets tired out initially, allegedly they have their vision impaired with chemicals before they are let into the ring too. After a while they are lured into an armoured horse where a guy is sat on top, ready to stick a spear into the poor creature. Then other dudes stick several blades into the animals back. There is plenty of blood by this point. Then the matador comes in, does his thing before eventually sticking a sword into the shoulder blades, severing it's spinal chord. I found myself cheering on the bull, two or three times it was able to strike the matador but it's death is inevitable. I've been but I wouldn't dream of ever going back.
