Spectacular in any way you see it, but try for a performance for the full effect

点评：Palais Garnier is the old opera house of Paris, and the location where you would be if you got off the Metro at Opera, but now it hosts primarily ballets while operas are at Opera Bastille. Lucky for us, there was a performance in Palais Garnier on one of the nights of this trip and I bought tickets online as soon as they went on sale. Undoubtedly the quality of seating might vary with the class of ticket, but we chose something just below the top range and the seats were like nothing I've experienced in New York or London. Palais Garnier is elaborate, which is not the taste of everyone, but one can appreciate the style and elegance without deciding they would like to refurbish their living room in the same fashion. If you can't see a performance during your stay in Paris, you can certainly tour the facilities. But, just walking up the grand staircase in order to get to your seats is a remarkable experience. The ceiling painting in the outer hall is more traditional, while inside the theater the ceiling mural was later painted by Marc Chagall.
