A great artist in a mediocre setting
梵高博物馆的点评
点评：I wanted to see his works in this museum and couldn't wait to see these paintings for so long, but unfortunately I was disappointed with the works shown. I've seen more quality paintings in other museums with way less of his works. The genius of Van Gogh is there, but you feel that there's something missing. Perhaps it's the setting? A cold modern building with the paintings arranged in no particular order. I've been to museums dedicated to a single artist before, Picasso in Barcelona, Dali in St. Petersburg, Florida (I know, Florida? Yep!) etc... and there's a flow that takes you through their years, breaks down the artists interests or multiple periods of their lives, but that's not here. You just meander from one work to the next with no rhyme or reason. People just walk around and no one seemed to be captured by anything in most paintings. I found myself doing the same thing after looking at a few paintings. Just because you hang a geniuses paintings on a wall doesn't make it enjoyable or draw you in. Go and enjoy it, he's still a great artist even though this is my opinion.
