点评：In Sanford for some pre-season spring shopping, I visited Marden’s.
This discount retailer has been in business for over 60 years.
On this visit, I shopped in several departments ~ Grocery, Apparel, Shoes, Automotive, and Housewares. It was in Housewares that I found my best buy of this trip.
My then-current Mr. Coffee was about 22 years old. From time to time, it was sputtering. I figured it would soon quit on me. So, when I came to coffeemakers, I browsed the offerings. When I saw the Mr. Coffee Simple Brew, I knew I’d found its replacement. It had the features I wanted. The first was capacity of 12 cups. Next was simplicity ~ just brew the pot of coffee with possibly a start time option. Third was a brew basket that would accommodate the screen-type basket filter, in addition to a paper filter. I used to cut down on dregs in the pot. Fourth was an easy-to-fill water chamber. Fifth was the set time/set time to brew option. Sixth was size ~ keep it fairly compact. This one had them all and at a great price. The Marden’s sticker showed it at Reg. $27.99. The Marden’s price was $15.99. I got $12.00 off. Then, the Maine Sales Tax of 5.5% was 88¢. The total was $16.87. With the tax, I still saved $11.12 which was close to 40% off.
TIP: If you see something you want and are hesitating, don’t. The item will likely not be there the next time you shop because Marden’s specializes in selling overstock/surplus, closeouts, and salvage. Typically, once something is gone, it's gone forever.
I rate my experience for this shopping trip at 5.0 and highly recommend shopping any Marden’s store.
