Woodkirk Valley Country Club的点评
点评：For clarity, I am not someone who normally writes reviews. However, after our experience hosting a pre-marriage ceremony here for approximately 200 guests, I think anyone considering booking this venue should know what happened and make sure they protect themselves before paying anything.
When we booked the venue, we were expressly told that the price included use of the main room, the side room and drinks. We were also told that our decorators would be able to access the venue approximately five hours before the event. This was important to us because we had paid for professional staging and decoration and needed sufficient time for everything to be set up properly.
Around a week before the event, we were suddenly told that another event had been booked on the same day and that our decorators could therefore only access the venue around one hour before our event was due to begin.
We disputed this with the owner because early access had been one of the reasons we chose the venue in the first place. By that stage, however, it was far too late for us to realistically move an event of approximately 200 people elsewhere. We therefore had little choice but to arrange and pay for additional decorators so that the room could be completed in time.
Unfortunately, things became considerably worse on the day.
Approximately 40 minutes before the event was due to start, the person who was supposed to be working behind the bar left because he had been informed that alcoholic drinks would not be required.
Later, when food from our external caterer was being served, we discovered that the drinks we had been told were included were simply not being provided. We repeatedly tried calling the owner, the barman and the other contact numbers we had for people connected with the venue, but could not get hold of anyone.
With around 200 guests being served food, we were left having to leave the event and purchase drinks ourselves at our own expense.
By this stage, we had incurred additional costs both for decorators, because the agreed access arrangements had changed shortly before the event, and for drinks which we understood had already been included within the venue price.
Afterwards, we went to speak to the owners in person because we genuinely hoped the matter could be resolved sensibly and amicably.
Instead, during a conversation lasting approximately 15–20 minutes, we were accused of lying about being told that drinks were included, despite several people having been present when this was discussed on more than one occasion.
We were also told that we had changed the start time of the event. We had not.
We were then told that water had in fact been included, although nobody had explained where it was or how we were supposed to access it, particularly given that the bar area had been obscured by the stage setup.
Most remarkably, when we challenged this, the owner told us that we had effectively used the water by flushing the toilets and suggested that our guests could have been given water from the toilets.
That conversation summed up the entire experience.
Mistakes happen and arrangements can change. Had the response afterwards simply been an acknowledgement of what had gone wrong and a sensible attempt to resolve the additional costs we had incurred, I probably would never have written this review.
Instead, our experience was that arrangements which had been agreed when securing the booking changed shortly before the event, services we understood we had paid for were not provided, we incurred additional costs as a result, and when we subsequently tried to resolve matters we were met with denial, accusations and an attitude that I found completely abhorrent.
It was, without exaggeration, one of the worst experiences I have had dealing with a business.
I am not going to tell anyone not to book the venue. People can make that decision for themselves. I would, however, strongly recommend that anyone considering doing so gets absolutely everything in writing before making payment: what rooms are included, access times, drinks, staffing, setup arrangements and anything else that matters to your event.
Unfortunately, most of our arrangements were made by telephone or in person, with relatively little recorded in writing. That was our mistake.
DO NOT REPEAT MY MISTAKE.
I would also suggest reading some of the other lower-rated reviews before booking. Our experience does not appear to be the only review in which customers say that what they understood had been agreed beforehand differed from what happened on the day.

事后，我们亲自去与场地业主沟通，因为我们真心希望这件事能得到妥善且友好的解决。
然而，事实并非如此。在一段大约15到20分钟的对话中，我们被指责谎称有人告知我们饮料是包含在费用里的；但实际上，这种讨论曾多次进行，而且当时有好几个人都在场。
我们还被指更改了活动的开始时间。但我们并没有这么做。
随后我们又被告知，实际上饮料是包含在费用里的，只不过没人解释饮料放在哪儿，我们又该如何获取。尤其是考虑到吧台区域当时被舞台设施挡住了。
最离谱的是，当我们对此提出质疑时，老板竟声称我们其实已经通过冲马桶用掉了水，甚至暗示我们的客人本可以从马桶里取水饮用。

遗憾的是，我们大部分的安排都是通过电话或当面商定的，书面记录相对较少。这是我们的失误。
