Beautiful scenery all around, incredible service and nearly perfect experience!

点评：I’m writing this review from the perspective of a Filipino-Canadian and biologist/ bird photographer.
First off, I want to say a huge thank you to Lalai, Laika, Tonton, Marshall (and their pup Cassie) for guiding and taking care of my wife and I. They are incredibly kind, supportive, flexible and anticipate our needs very well. They made sure our experience was as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.
We chose tour 6 which included tamisan mangrove birding, taytay bay island hopping and snorkelling. The islands were secluded and the coral reefs were stunning. Fish were plentiful and very diverse. We were simply in awe for most of our trip. The food was also incredibly delicious and the fresh mangoes were especially *chef’s kiss*
Some things I’d like to know for the future:
- Safety briefing about the marine life and snorkelling practice/procedures.
- More information about the local communities in Palawan, geological history, and ecological importance of the habitats (more information & fun facts = more appreciation and care for the environment).
- Conservation initiatives and concerns around the area
- More specific species ID to the flora and fauna we were seeing.
- A field guide or laminated sheet of common fish species/ types of coral reef that can be found
The price: other reviews have commented that it’s more expensive than other tours around Palawan and while that is true, I think it’s fair given:
- a private, authentic and secluded experience
- fantastic service and guidance from staff. Laika knew where the best spots to snorkel were and is a great photographer. Tonton knew his fish species very well and assisted us in navigating around the boat. Marshall steered the ship safely in any weather condition and of course Lalai made sure we were comfortable and is a great chef.
Finally, booking with Malampaya Eco Tours means you’ll be supporting local, hardworking Filipinos (and their families) in making a comfortable living. And I’m all for empowering my fellow kabayan and championing our biodiversity! Maraming salamat po ulit ate Lalai and team ❤️
