点评：The Phoenician Stairs connect Anacapri to the Marina Grande of Capri. According to some sources, there would be over 740 steps, according to others 921. Although they have this name, it is unlikely that they were built by the Phoenicians, historians say, but rather by Greek settlers in antiquity.
Until 1874 when a cart road was built between Capri and Anacapri, the stairs were the only connection between the two towns. Anacapri had no drinking water at the time and the only source of drinking water was the Truglio spring in the vicinity of the port of Capri. As a result, the housewives of Anacapri were forced to make this journey daily, carrying pots of water on their heads. I just went down the stairs and congratulated myself that I didn't come up with the idea of going up them. Honestly, I have great respect and admiration for those women who did this chore every day. Believe me, it's not easy.
The effort of today's tourist who chooses to use the Phoenician Stairs is rewarded with wonderful views.
Be careful, however, having an eye for landscapes and driven by the desire to take as many photos as possible, accidents can happen and it is not exactly comfortable to fall on those stairs.
