Beautiful grounds, fabulous volunteers!

点评：What a beautiful place to visit in autumn! Went with my daughter today, such lovely colours in the grounds. The gardens are extremely well kept and even the 'wild' walking areas are marked out and easy to follow. We loved meandering through the woods and finding all the hidden monuments. The lake and pavilion were a great backdrop for our picnic as the sun was shining. Clear information boards added to the experience. We didn't use the audio tour facility but it is available.
The rooms in the house are lovely, bright and we'll kept. Although only a few rooms are furnished, the other rooms are well used for displays and information. We had a lovely volunteer called Lyn who showed us round the wallpaper tour which was very interesting and were lucky that they were serving War Time cream teas in one of the empty rooms, which were delicious!
Finally, a shout out to the very kind lady and gentleman manning the gift shop who donated a discontinued wooden badge for my daughter so she could add it to her collection, customer service above and beyond! Another fab day out with English Heritage!
