新天鹅堡的点评
点评：After doing a couple of puzzles of this castle and seeing it at Walt Disney World attraction Soarin’, we always wanted to visit, it did not disappoint. We took the shuttle bus up and our guide told us we had time to walk up to Mary’s Bridge, which we very much wanted to do and were happy we did. The other half of our group wasn’t told this and had to double back down from the top if they wanted to see it. Great views from there. You then have to walk up to the castle from that point, it was maybe 20 minutes up a paved path.
The castle itself was very impressive from the outside. Huge white stone, hundreds of windows and the awe of building it back then without the equipment we have now. The inside was great, so much detail, inside stories , hidden passages, an inside man-made cave, beautiful amazing views of the countryside below. And we saw a small portion, it was all furnished. Very interesting indeed!
You have to walk all the way down, 30 minutes on a pretty steep paved path. We grabbed a cold beer and lunch right there after to celebrate.
The only negatives were; 1 - the entry point - these Germans are very strict about your entry time, 11:15 means 11:15, not 11:16. Some of our group got delayed due to the very small restrooms at the castle entrance. They had to wait until 11:20, no big deal.
2 - the guide. I had to look to see if she was reading the presentation. Nope, just reciting it in a very monotone voice with no pauses or inflections. The only time that happened is when someone tried to take a picture and she scolded us like little children. I laughed so hard, I thought she might throw me out.
