Late 14th-century Gothic church at Marktplatz

点评：St. George's Church is a late-Gothic style church situated upon Marktplatz in Old Town. It was built between 1427-1505 and features a 90-metre tall bell tower known locally as "Daniel" and is open from open from 10am to 6pm daily for visitations.
Originally a Roman Catholic church, St. George's converted to a Lutheran church during the Reformation Period. The exterior is of traditional Gothic architecture while the interior is Gothic with Baroque features including a high ceiling with vaulted ribs, stained glass windows along with later period wall ornamentation and elegant organ.
At the time of our visit the main altar was covered and under restorations as was much of the front of the church floor. Not sure when these works are scheduled to be completed.
Note, you can visit "Daniel" independent of the main body of the church. The bell tower is accessible from 10am to 6pm as well. Entry is 4.50 Euro per adult and is paid at the top of the 350 step staircase to the top and observation level.
