Quinta Da Foz的点评
点评：We reserved a tasting here during a day trip to Pinhao and had a wonderful time. Our host and guide Inez was extremely personable and knowledgeable. We started with a look around the estate, first in the production room where the original granite vats were located, where they stomp the grapes and ferment the wine, and then to the warehouse where the wine is aged. We didn’t tour the fields, which was a plus- it was raining pretty steadily the day we were there.
We then went back upstairs for the tasting. Inez did a splendid job, as she was conducting three different tastings at once-port (for me) and two different types of wine. There were a total of seven people in our group. Reservations are very strongly recommended… the space isn’t huge, and people were turned away who hadn’t called ahead.
I tried five different types of port- a white, three tawnies, and a ruby. The white and the 10 year tawny were my favorites, and I ended up buying a bottle of white to have on the rest of my trip. At $18.50 a bottle, I thought it was an excellent value. Quinta Da Foz is a small producer, and it’s rarely offered for sale outside Portugal.
The only suggestion I could make would maybe be an arrow pointing to the showroom and tasting area- we spent several minutes wandering around the quinta, unsure of where to go (you walk through the main gate and go up the stairs immediately to your right) . Not a big deal when the weather is nice, but a touch frustrating in the rain. Regardless, we had a wonderful experience and would not hesitate to book the same tour again.
