The highlight of our SA trip

点评：We caught the 171 bus from the city and walked up to the house. Once there, we spent an hour wandering the garden with coffees from the cafe. We did the storybook trail (where I delighted in scenes from books that I loved as a child), strolled through the orchard, the rose garden and then sheltered beneath the banksia arbour once the raindrops opened. We then did the house tour with Alexis, who was a wonderful guide and storyteller. Her stories pulled us into the world of the Haywards, and the artists whose works were displayed throughout the house. We love stately homes, and have been through too many to count right through the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Australia and France. We both agree that Alexis's tour was first class and one of the tours we have enjoyed most of all. Thank you, Alexis, for this experience, which we highly recommend. At $20 per person this was excellent value and a highlight of our trip to South Australia. Our favourite room: the 50's bathroom. Loved it!
After the tour the rain had set in. We walked through the muddy trails back to the bus stop and were absolutely drenched, but that didn't dampen the experience for us. 5-star experience all round.
