A beach that made me slow down and stay longer than I expected. 😊
I visited Kappad Beach during my Kozhikode trip and ended up spending nearly five hours here. What I liked most was that Kappad is not just a beach where you arrive, take a few photographs and leave. The area is reasonably well maintained and has plenty of greenery, shaded spaces and seating areas where you can simply sit and enjoy the surroundings.
There are also useful facilities such as toilets, drinking water, a small eatery and changing rooms for visitors who want to enjoy the water. The staff appeared to be taking good care of the cleanliness of the beach and its surroundings.
I spent my time here in my own slow-travel style. I read a novel under the shade of the trees, walked around the landscaped areas, sat at the designated seating spots and simply watched the sea. Later, I walked along the sand and rocks and stood close to the waves as they came in. 🌊😊
The atmosphere changes towards evening when more people start arriving for the sunset. And that's when Kappad becomes especially beautiful. The golden light over the Arabian Sea, the silhouettes of people along the shore and the rocks extending into the water create a wonderful setting for photography and simply enjoying the magic hour.
The standard adult entry fee was ₹25 when I visited, according to the entrance board. The board also listed ₹10 for children and ₹12 for senior citizens. A premium ticket is required for access to the bathing zone.
What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to slow down. Five hours at a beach may sound like a lot, but at Kappad, with a book in hand, trees providing shade, the sound of the waves and a beautiful sunset waiting at the end, the time passed surprisingly quickly.
Overall, a very pleasant and peaceful experience. ❤️
If you're visiting Kozhikode, Kappad Beach is worth setting aside a few hours for—not just a quick stop for photographs.
My tip: If possible, spend some time here in the late afternoon and stay until sunset. That's when the beach really comes alive. 🌅
