I always enjoy a visit to Barkers in Northallerton a lovely spot with great food, friendly service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. On my recent visit, I had a simple but satisfying breakfast: eggs on toast with an extra sausage. The food was delicious and served promptly, as always.
That said, there was a slight hiccup at the till I was charged for a sausage sandwich rather than just the extra sausage, despite mentioning it at the time. The lady serving, Anne, was polite but didn’t seem to quite follow what I was saying. I understand she’s a long-standing member of staff and is related to the owners, and while I don’t want to be unfair, it did feel like she may have been a bit flustered or not fully suited to the fast-paced nature of the role anymore.
That aside, Barkers remains a gem in Northallerton and I’ll definitely be back again soon. Just a small reminder that even the best places can benefit from a little extra attention at the till!
