Good lodging, nice winery with beautiful views

点评：Stayed in the Cados Cottage for 3 nights and loved the setting and atmosphere. Cottage was updated, clean and very comfortable, with a great view of the mountains from the windows and deck. Only complaint on the cottage was the way-too-heavy comforter on the bed, which was the only blanket option in the cottage - so, we woke up suffocating and sweating every night, until I finally tossed it onto the floor and we turned the furnace on and just used a sheet. I know a lot of the hospitality industry is using those monstrosities (super-huge comforters) because they are easier for staff to clean; but I think most guests probably loathe them. Many places advertise that they are eco-friendly, and then they slap one of those monster comforters on the bed and the guests have to resort to a bunch of A/C and/or furnace heat to be comfortable enough to get a good night's sleep. Sorry to grind that ax, but that thing kept us up every night.
The winery was very nice and the staff were gracious and pleasant. Wines were pretty good for Virginia wines, but not our favorite in the area. The grounds are awesome -sitting in a beaufitul valley, you can plop down in an Andirondack chair and look around and enjoy and relax.
Overall, this is a good stop - whether lodging or visiting wineries in the area.
