Fantastic history, brilliant guided tour!

点评：We had been anticipating our visit to this famous place for ages. The hour didn't let us down! Sadly no photography is permitted but this is understandable.
The delightful and charismatic Fiona was our guide. She was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable about the region's history and very skillful and confident in delivery and performance- and amazingly she's still on probation! Unbelievably good.
The walking tour around this old, cramped site can be tricky to negotiate for those with mobility issues, especially with low ceilings, uneven stone floors and narrow, steep stairways (with modern handrails though).
Warning for some: the living history details of those poor residents in 18th century Edinburgh slums can be very sad, grim and moving, as to be expected with plague, extreme poverty and degradation.
Fiona did an amazingly good job at balancing the grim, detailed and interesting details with humour and respect!
