Beautiful place, beautiful horses, but costly
西班牙骑术学校的点评
点评：Coming to the Spanish Riding School at its home was a must for me as a horse owner and lover. We booked a show and a tour of the stables. The first thing I have to say is that it was eye-wateringly expensive.
We booked seats in advance and were glad we’d done that. There are many pillars which partially block your view along the long sides on the arena. Only the most expensive tickets (at A and C ends of the school) have an unrestricted view. Luckily our seats offered a decent view at over 120€ each. I imagine the people standing behind us had very little view.
The show itself was interesting. The youngsters (4-6 year olds) were entertaining but mostly because I ride dressage myself and I know what I’m looking for. It’s good to see that however good the rider, the horse can catch you out sometimes, a factor of 2 brains and 6 legs! The skills performance was very good, but only levade shown ridden, corvette and capriole from the ground only. It’s debatable these days whether these skills remain relevant and acceptable given the way they are trained. The final performance, a dressage to music, was spectacular.
The stable tour was interesting, but no interaction was allowed with the horses which I thought was a shame. I’ve been to Le Cadre Noir in Saumur in France and contact is allowed there, not with all horses, but certainly with the ones that enjoy human contact. Still, an interesting tour in English, amazing facilities right in the centre of Vienna.
There is a tea room on site which is nice, also a gift shop which includes embroidered saddle pads for horses, so not just a shop for humans.
My closing comment would be that we spent a lot of money on this, enjoyed it very much, but would not return mainly due to cost, whereas we would go back to Le Cadre Noir.
