点评:Though this is a large collection with a lot of work by well-known artsts, there is astonishingly little information on any of it. I was hoping to learn about the works and gain a greater understanding, but was disappointed. Perhaps for an expert, it works fine, but not for someone looking for a 'way in' to modern art.
I am particularly interested in Pop Art but was practically chased out of the gallery by a most officious room attendant. I was looking at The Portable War Memorial, trying to find something mentioned in the description (a burnt Tarzan?), and inadvertently crossed a line around the work. The attendant rushed across the room, yelling at me. I am a woman in her 70s, had already moved well away from the work and have no idea what threat she thought I represented. Anyway, I felt upset and unwelcome, as well as frustrated at not being able to find out more.
All of the many attendants I saw, looked miserable and none engaged with the visitors, offered information or seemed in any way welcoming.
Altogether, I felt it was a wasted opportunity.
