点评:This review is going to be photography based with one exception, which I will put first.
Non-photography item: I did not find this in my reading, so here it is--if you are interested in seeing the best collection of hoodoos at one of the pullouts, it is definitely Sunset Point; the best are in a separate valley at the very southern part of Sunset Point.
OK, on to the photography stuff: Photographing hoodoos at AM golden hour will get you fabulous pictures, especially of that separate valley--the hoodoos "glow" because they are red and orange and being illuminated by nearly pure red and orange light, and the shadows are dramatic (see photos). In May the rising sun shines directly into that valley.
My other interest was astrophotography there. Just so everyone knows, the park is open 24/7 so you can go in at any time to take those pictures. Again, nothing that really covers this in what I read, but if you know what you are looking for in the sky , the best views from the north to the southeast are from Sunset and Inspiration Points. One I discovered too late (my pictures didn't come out, because I could not take enough to stack) is that the picnic area just past road Mile 9 has fabulous views of the night sky from the south to the WNW. Happy shooting!
