Review of Port ALOTAU
I was travelling with my husband and friends in February 2024. We tried to find tours in Alotau and I contacted Tao Boga whose contact number I found on the internet. Among all tours looked at, we found it the most interesting because we wanted to learn how people live, what they eat, their customs and traditions. This tour included everything. On our arrival we were met by Tau and his wife. We were taken to East Cape in a minibus where we visited the local market. In the village where Tau lives with the family we were met with traditional dancing, delicious fruit, coconut milk, plus grilled fish caught by the villagers. We were shown historic skull caves, and we could snorkel. All people and children from the village were extremely friendly and the young also assisted a lot. The women of the village also demonstrated their skills, weaving local grasses into different products. It was great just being able to chat with everyone. The drive to and from the village, skirted the coastline and provided interesting Insite into the weather patterns they could encounter due to the size of washouts at the road bridges. In our group many had plain good fun. Cost was great, people we met were great and the whole experience was great.
