Great museum and interesting site

点评：We had problems trying to find what hours the park was open (in fact, we thought it closed at 12.30 but on the Friday we did visit, we were told that it was open until the evening!), and it was all too easy to drive past the turn-off from the main road, but it was well worth the effort to get there. The museum far exceeded my expectations, with some terrific items on display, and with the displays divided up into different stages of the city's history; the great majority of the information boards are in Italian, but there are some in English. There is an interesting introductory film (probably best viewed before touring the site) and an imaginative presentation of relics from the sea, downstairs.
The park itself is extensive, and it took us a couple of hours to walk round it. Various information boards help to explain what can be seen. Unfortunately, the acropolis was closed for works, although we were told it might be open the next day....
There is little shade out on the site, so wear a hat and sunscreen!
