Holiday of a lifetime

点评：Firstly I’d like to thank Bek for his patience, understanding and kindness after I had to postpone my trip last year due to work commitments.
I was on a mountain climbing tour to summit Khütien and thankfully was able to reach the top.
From the moment I stepped off the plane in Ulaanbaatar, everything was already arranged and fell into place at no additional cost to me!
I had a guided tour of the capital from a very informative Mongolian tour guide who spoke English well and was willing to tailor the tour based on my interests, we ended up exploring the national museum and watched live performances at the theatre full of culture (throat singing, traditional music and a contortionist).
The next day I flew to Ölgii and Baku picked me up from the airport. He would be my guide throughout the tour. I did meet Bek briefly so I managed to apologise in person for the hassle I'd caused last year and gave him a token of appreciation. En-route, we stopped off at Baku’s family home (a yurt) where we had a delicious lunch and then an eagle hunter shown us his golden eagle which I was able to hold on my arm.
We got to base camp that evening and each day we’d hike up a different mountain, increasing in difficulty but none required scrambling except Khütien which Baku lead with, providing harness, ropes and snow shoes. There was no rush and we had plenty of time, so much so we could afford to have a rest day or two. Despite some challenges (I’d never been mountain climbing before) I really enjoyed this holiday of a lifetime and would certainly use them again.
