Staff cannot handle a party crowd on a hot day

点评：Picture a hundred people, dressed in their best, packed into a plastic bag on a hot summer day. This was South Hill Cidery's private party space on Saturday, July 26, 2025. There was an enclosed tent, with a small band dais at one end. The heat inside the tent was unsafe for the older and younger members of the group and miserable for the hardiest. One much-too-small fan was eventually brought in. If the sides of the tent had been raised to let in the breeze it could have been bearable. But that was apparently too much trouble for the available staff. One panel was opened late in the proceedings. As it was, people were putting sweat stains onto nice gowns and jackets and makeup was running.
There were minimally decorated rustic tables with benches; gravel floor was simultaneously dusty and damp. The food was ok, nothing that special. Cheeses melting onto their platters did nothing for the ambiance.
The event manager just seemed incompetent or unwilling to understand and deal with the needs of a crowd of people of mixed ages in sultry weather. These people paid a lot of money for a special occasion and they were rudely cheated. The everyday space and service at this place may not be so bad. The views are great. But, I would never book a special event there.
