点评:As members of a 37-strong Great Railways Holiday Group (staying at the Trouville Hotel at Sandown - Review to follow) - and after a good 10 years - my wife and myself paid a return visit to the Needles earlier today.
Unfortunately - and particularly as only a week ago we paid an excellent visit to Old Harry Rocks on the Dorset Coast - it wasn’t a great experience. In fact, on arrival it’s difficult with all the other Attractions to know you are at the Needles!
Even on finding the Viewing Platform (not easy in itself!), it is not possible to get a good sighting of the Needles. The same applies on walking down to the Beach (not a difficult descent and certainly not worth the cost of taking the Chairlift option (£6 single or £11 return for each of us) so there will be no further visits by us for what should be one of the Island’s leading Attractions!!
The only redeeming factor was meeting Fred (very friendly crow) on the fence of the Stair Lift on our return from the Beach. He was clearly very much at home and - as such - unlikely to be leaving the area anytime soon!!
