点评:I think that most of the reviews here cover a lot if details in good depth, so I’m going to focus on three things that I would have liked to know in advance.
1) I highly recommend the cafeteria (weird, I know!). We had beer, campari spritz, and wonderfully fresh grilled sandwiches. There are many other choices from grab-and-go pastries to full meals. We really enjoyed sitting at the table, admiring the architecture, and people watching. We had about an hour to kill before our timed ticket at the Basilica, and this was much cheaper and quicker than finding a bite on/near Piazza San Marco.
2) use the restroom just before the exit (I know!). The line seems long, but it’s for a good reason. There is a person who goes into each stall after each use and wipes the seat and mops the floor. Cleanest public restroom I’ve experienced in Italy! And no cost to use.
3) This is a different type of palace than what I had in mind. It’s not visiting bedrooms or throne rooms. Instead it is s look at the political history of Venice. Don’t worry- it’s still amazing (the frescoes, floors, Bridge of Sighs, art!) and I learned a ton about how politics and even democracy evolved in this part of Europe and impacted the development of the United States.
