Fascinating glimpse into wartime Britain

点评：This was my first visit and I wasn’t sure what to expect, I certainly didn’t realise the true extent of this underground network of rooms. I found the audio guide and headset easy to operate and it’s really just a matter of inputting the numbers displayed as you walk round - also a good idea they’ve kept audios to around 1 minute. It did get crowded but I didn’t find it a problem as you can wander round at your own pace - if it’s busy in a certain area then move on and return a bit later (lol you an always shadow a guided tour and listen to what they have to say!). There’s a cafe towards the end of the route and a gift shop at the exit. Hard to imagine how people lived for days and weeks at time in this underground network but their work was indispensable in winning WW2, especially during the year when Britain was literally on her own. Such was the strength of the structure to prevent it being destroyed by bombing, it took 3mths to cut a small passage through one of the reinforced concrete walls when the building was being prepared for opening.
