点评:The Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall dates from 1963. The previous hall, situated at a different location, didn’t survive the WW2 bombings. The present hall consists of 2 venues, ‘Großer Saal’ with 2,440 seats and ‘Kammermusiksaal’ with 1,180 seats. The architecture is impressive - inside and outside - but the firsttime visitor will struggle in the labyrinth. Note that German theatres halls have right and left. Consequently in a row you find a seat number twice.
In the Philharmonie we heard the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin under Kent Nagano (1951), Ustwolskaja’s ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’, Mozart’s Pianoconcerto 23 and Beethoven’s Symphony 6. The concert hall was sold out. ‘Bona Nobis Pacem’ appeared to be the most terrible noises we ever heard. After being tortured by Ustwolskaja (1919), was Mozart a great relief. The performance of KV488 with Rafał Blechacz (1985) on piano was brilliant. After the pause we heard a nice performance of the ‘Pastorale’. The audience was very pleased and applauded enthousiastically. Highly recommended.
