点评:We visited the Ancient Theatre of Taormina in late April 2026 on the third leg of a five week visit to Sicily. The theatre (also referred to as the Greek Theatre and the Greek-Roman Theatre) is justifiably a popular tourist site in Taormina and we arrived in mid-morning to find a short line-up for tickets (which were €16 per person); by the time that we left the site around Noon the ticket line was considerably longer, so we suggest arriving early. We were luckily able to join a small group guided tour of the site (an additional €12 per person) which made the visit even more meaningful. The ruins are impressive, as are the layers of history and the views of the stage (from the semi-circular rows of seats) with Mt Etna looming in the background. This theatre is still in use and we very much regretted that we were too early in the season to take in a performance. The theatre site also includes a modest cafe (Cafe Belvedere, reviewed separately) with great views and outdoor seating. We recommend a visit to the Ancient Theatre as an essential (but not inexpensive) stop on a visit to Taormina.
