点评：In May, we spent a fantastic week trekking through the Jebel Sarho, south of the Atlas Mountains.
We booked our trek through Alan Palmer, owner and founder of Yak Travel. He set up the trek for us with Hamou Ait Lhou in Morocco. All at a very fair price.
We met Hamou near Boumalne Dades, spent the first night at his home and then the next week trekking with him. Our trip through the Jebel Sahro was wonderful. Mountainous and arid, but beautiful and incredibly varied. And with many unexpected little green valleys, with small farms and houses at every turn. Meeting local people and seeing their way of life was a highlight. Lots of new and unexpected experiences on this trip. Hamou organised everything on the trek and we were very well looked after. Our tent, the cook tent, everything we needed, and a mule and muleteer to transport it all. Three tasty meals a day. The best soup and the best tagine we had in Morocco, we had in Hamou's tent. And the lunchtime salad was great as well.
Hamou obviously knows the Jebel Sahro like the back of his hand. He knows every path and track, every valley and hill. His local knowledge is incredible; he could tell us something about the plants and animals we saw, the weather patterns, the geology, the local history, languages, the people we met and their families. His love of the country and clear appreciation of its beauty shone through. And with us, he was always kind, helpful and patient. We also enjoyed his sense of humour. And his and his wife, Hadijah's, generous hospitality at their home.
A great trip. We very much hope to visit again next year.
